The CDT runs for 17.7 miles from the Monarch Pass Trailhead on US Hwy 50 to the Hancock Trailhead. Along the way, the trail passes Monarch Mountain Ski Area, several prehistoric walls, the Top of the Divide, Hunt Lake, Boss Lake, Bald Mountain, Taylor Mountain, Mount Aetna, Monumental Peak, Hancock Peak, Mount Chapman, and Pomeroy Mountain.
